Oxidation of metal parts because of humidity and old, leaking batteries is a common cause of corrosion. oxidation is evident from the distinctive pale green film that develops on contacts, whereas a leaking battery tends to produce powdery white corrosion.. If it's that corroded, it's likely the corrosion has seeped into the internal portions of the camera & likely will require replacement of the wires coming off the battery box if not other parts as well.. i doubt the vinegar trick will work as that's for light corrosion. best to send it to a shop.
